Description

This Chocolate Sea Salt Granola is a deliciously toasty blend of oats, nuts, seeds, and cocoa, enhanced with a touch of honey and avocado oil, then topped with melty chocolate chips and a sprinkle of coarse sea salt for the perfect sweet and savory snack.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 3 cups old fashioned oats
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup cocao powder or cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ
  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup avocado oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Garnish (optional)

  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips
  • coarse sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: Mix dry ingredients (oats, pecans, wheat germ, chia seeds, sesame seeds, cacao powder, salt and cinnamon).
  3. Mix wet ingredients: Mix wet ingredients (honey, avocado oil and vanilla extract) in a separate bowl.
  4. Combine: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix well.
  5. Prepare baking pan: Spray a baking pan with oil and spread the granola mixture on the pan. Pack it into a thick layer.
  6. Bake: Bake for 15-20 mins or until toasted to liking. The center will still be soft to the touch when it comes out of the oven – that’s okay! It’ll harden as it cools.
  7. Add chocolate and cool: After baking, sprinkle the chocolate chips on top and allow granola to cool down for about 10 minutes or until the chocolate melts a bit into the granola.
  8. Freeze and serve: Freeze the granola for 15 minutes to help the chocolate set and break apart with a knife or spatula. Sprinkle with coarse sea salt if desired and enjoy!

Notes

  • The center of the granola will be soft right out of the oven but will harden as it cools.
  • Freezing the granola after adding chocolate helps the chocolate set properly.
