Ingredients

  • 8 slices of crustless sandwich bread

  • 1 egg

  • 3 tbsp milk

  • 1 tbsp heavy cream

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 knob of butter

For the Coating:

  • 100 g sugar

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Flatten the slices of sandwich bread with a rolling pin.

  2. Roll each slice tightly into a log.

  3. In a bowl, whisk the egg with milk, cream, and vanilla.

  4. Dip each bread roll in the egg mixture.

  5. In a hot pan, melt the butter and fry the rolls on all sides until lightly golden.

  6. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a plate. Roll the cooked bread rolls in the cinnamon sugar until well coated.

  7. Serve warm, ideally with a cup of coffee.

Notes

  • You can fill the bread with jam, Nutella, or cream cheese before rolling for a surprise center.

  • Best enjoyed warm and fresh, but they can be gently reheated in a pan.
