Description

Marry Me Shrimp Pasta is a creamy, flavorful dish featuring tender shrimp tossed in a rich sun-dried tomato and Parmesan cream sauce served over linguine. This easy skillet recipe combines garlic, red pepper flakes, and fresh basil for a savory, slightly spicy meal perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a cozy date night.

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta

  • 12 oz linguine or pasta of your choice

Shrimp and Sauce

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the linguine and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain well and set aside to keep warm.
  2. Cook the shrimp: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Season the shrimp with salt and pepper, then add them to the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté garlic and red pepper flakes: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Cook for about 1 minute, stirring frequently, until fragrant but not burnt.
  4. Add sun-dried tomatoes and broth: Stir in the chopped sun-dried tomatoes and chicken broth, allowing the mixture to come to a simmer. Scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan to incorporate the flavors.
  5. Make the cream sauce: Pour in the heavy cream and bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Let it cook for 3-4 minutes until it thickens slightly and becomes creamy.
  6. Incorporate Parmesan cheese: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese continuously until it melts completely and the sauce is smooth and well combined.
  7. Combine shrimp and pasta: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet, then add the drained linguine. Toss everything gently to coat the shrimp and pasta evenly with the creamy sauce.
  8. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh basil over the top and serve the pasta immediately while warm and flavorful.

Notes

  • For a lighter option, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream.
  • Add extra red pepper flakes if you prefer a spicier dish.
  • Sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil can add more richness; adjust olive oil accordingly.
  • Use gluten-free pasta if a gluten-free version is desired.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days; reheat gently to avoid overcooking shrimp.
