Keywords: honey garlic chicken, quick chicken recipe, easy skillet chicken, sweet and savory chicken, sticky chicken sauce

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts

  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/3 cup honey

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (slurry)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Optional garnish: sliced green onions, sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Prep the Chicken:
Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces or leave whole. Pat dry and season with salt and pepper.

  • Sear the Chicken:
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken and cook 4–5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and set aside.

  • Make the Honey Garlic Sauce:
Lower heat to medium-low. In the same skillet, sauté minced garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add honey and soy sauce; stir well.

  • Thicken the Sauce:
Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl to make a slurry. Stir into sauce and simmer 2–3 minutes until thickened.

  • Combine and Serve:
Return chicken to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for another 2–3 minutes. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

  • Use chicken thighs for extra juiciness.

  • Add a splash of rice vinegar or lemon juice to balance the sweetness.

  • Toss in steamed veggies like broccoli or snap peas for a one-pan meal.

  • To bake: Cook chicken at 400°F for 20 minutes, then toss with sauce in a skillet.
