Description

A juicy grilled sausage nestled in a golden toasted bun, loaded with smoky jalapeños, crispy bacon bits, and caramelized onions—every bite is bold, savory, and unforgettable.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 beef or pork sausages (or bratwursts)
  • 4 hot dog buns
  • 1 tbsp butter (for toasting buns)
  • 1/2 cup pickled jalapeño slices
  • 6 strips bacon, chopped
  • 1 large onion, finely diced
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley or chives for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped bacon and cook until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add olive oil and onions. Cook over medium-low heat for 10–12 minutes until caramelized, adding brown sugar halfway through. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Stir in jalapeño slices and cooked bacon; sauté together for 2–3 more minutes. Set mixture aside.
  4. Grill sausages over medium-high heat until cooked through and nicely browned, about 10 minutes.
  5. Spread butter on the inside of each bun and lightly toast them on the grill or in a skillet until golden.
  6. Place grilled sausage in each bun, top generously with the jalapeño bacon onion mix. Garnish with parsley or chives if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Use spicy or mild sausages depending on your heat preference.
  • Caramelizing the onions slowly is key to developing deep flavor.
  • Pickled jalapeños add tangy heat, but fresh jalapeños can be used for extra spice.
