Description

Golden and crispy on the outside with a luxuriously creamy cheese center, this fried burrata makes an indulgent appetizer or a decadent snack that’s quick and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 ball fresh burrata cheese (4 oz)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Sea salt, to finish

Instructions

  1. Gently pat the burrata dry with paper towels and freeze for 30 minutes to firm up.
  2. Set up a breading station with flour in one bowl, beaten egg in another, and panko mixed with garlic powder in a third.
  3. Coat the burrata in flour, then dip in the egg, and coat with the panko mixture. For extra crunch, dip again in egg and panko.
  4. Heat 1½ inches of vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Carefully place the burrata into the hot oil and fry for 2–3 minutes, turning until golden brown.
  6. Remove and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with sea salt.
  7. Serve immediately, allowing the creamy center to ooze when cut open.

Notes

  • Freezing the burrata helps it stay intact during frying.
  • Double coating ensures an extra crispy crust.
  • Serve with crusty bread or a side salad for a complete appetizer.
