Description

Golden, buttery puff pastry rounds layered with melted cheddar and savory ham, perfect for brunch or a cozy snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 6 slices deli ham, chopped
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese (or American cheese), quartered
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for brushing)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lightly flour your surface and roll out the puff pastry sheet to smooth it slightly.
  3. Using a 3-inch round cutter, cut out an even number of pastry circles (12 rounds for 6 stacks).
  4. Place half of the rounds on the baking sheet. Top each with ham and cheese, leaving a small border around the edge.
  5. Place a second pastry round on top of each, pressing the edges to seal. Crimp edges gently with a fork if desired.
  6. Whisk together the egg and milk. Brush tops of pastries with the egg wash.
  7. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
  8. Remove from oven and brush with melted butter (optional). Sprinkle with chopped chives and a pinch of salt and pepper. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Make sure puff pastry is fully thawed before using.
  • Customize with your favorite cheese or add mustard for a twist.
  • Great for meal prep—reheat in toaster oven for best texture.
