Description

A bold and comforting twist on the classic Sloppy Joe, served open-faced on French bread and topped with seasoned beef and melty cheeses for a hearty, crowd-pleasing meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread, sliced in half lengthwise
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with onion and garlic until browned. Drain excess grease.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
  4. Place French bread halves on the baking sheet, cut side up. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture evenly over each half.
  5. Top with a mix of cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley, slice, and serve warm.
