Description

Buttery, flaky puff pastry filled with tangy goat cheese and sweet blackberry preserves, topped with fresh blackberries and thyme—these elegant little tarts are the perfect sweet-savory appetizer or dessert.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 oz goat cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese (optional, for extra creaminess)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 cup blackberry jam or preserves
  • 810 fresh blackberries
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • Fresh thyme leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out puff pastry and cut into 8–10 squares. Score a border about 1/2 inch inside each square to allow edges to puff.
  3. In a small bowl, mix goat cheese, cream cheese, and honey until smooth.
  4. Spread a spoonful of cheese mixture inside the scored border of each pastry square.
  5. Add a dollop of blackberry jam and gently press a fresh blackberry into each tart.
  6. Brush edges with egg wash and sprinkle with chopped nuts if using.
  7. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
  8. Garnish with fresh thyme leaves. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Cream cheese adds extra creaminess but can be omitted for a tangier filling.
  • These tarts can be made ahead and served at room temperature.
  • Try using raspberry or fig preserves as an alternative.
