Description

Crispy toasted baguette slices topped with cherry tomatoes, basil, and a balsamic glaze. A simple, flavorful Italian appetizer perfect for entertaining.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups cherry tomatoes, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, thinly sliced
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush lightly with olive oil.
  3. Toast in the oven for 6–8 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
  4. While the bread toasts, combine the diced cherry tomatoes, garlic, basil, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  5. Remove the toasted bread from the oven and let cool slightly.
  6. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto each slice.
  7. Drizzle with balsamic glaze just before serving. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use the freshest tomatoes and basil for the best flavor.
  • Optional: rub the toasted bread with a cut clove of garlic before topping for extra flavor.
  • Balsamic glaze can be store-bought or homemade.
