Description

A decadent fusion of rich, fudgy brownies and classic tiramisu, these Tiramisu Brownie Bars combine a moist chocolate base with layers of espresso-soaked mascarpone cream, finished with a dusting of cocoa powder.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil or butter, melted
  • 1 cup coconut sugar or regular sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk of choice
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup flour (all-purpose or gluten-free blend)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup strong brewed espresso or coffee, cooled
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, melted coconut oil (or butter), and sugar until smooth.
  3. Stir in milk, vanilla, flour, and salt. Mix until just combined.
  4. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until set. Let cool completely.
  5. While the brownie base cools, prepare the tiramisu layer. Beat mascarpone, heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth and fluffy.
  6. Once the brownie is cool, brush or drizzle espresso evenly over the top.
  7. Spread the mascarpone mixture over the brownie base. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Chill in the fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight to set.
  9. Dust generously with cocoa powder before slicing into bars.

Notes

  • Make sure the brownie layer is completely cool before adding the mascarpone layer to prevent melting.
  • For a stronger coffee flavor, use espresso instead of regular coffee.
  • Chilling overnight gives the best texture and flavor.
