Ingredients

  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

  • 1 cup tomato sauce (store-bought or homemade)

  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 10-20 slices of chorizo sausage (mild or spicy)

  • Olive oil, for brushing

  • 1 tsp dried oregano (optional)

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)

  • Fresh basil leaves or parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven during preheating.

2. Roll Out the Dough:

On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness. Transfer to a pizza peel (if using a stone), or place on a parchment-lined or greased baking sheet.

3. Top the Pizza:

  • Spread tomato sauce over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.

  • Evenly sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the sauce.

  • Arrange chorizo slices across the top.

4. Season & Oil (Optional):

Lightly brush the crust with olive oil. Sprinkle oregano and garlic powder for added flavor.

5. Bake:

  • With a pizza stone: Slide pizza onto the preheated stone. Bake for 10–12 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.

  • With a baking sheet: Bake for 12–15 minutes until crispy and golden.

6. Serve:

Let the pizza cool slightly. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired. Slice into 8 pieces and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use spicy chorizo for heat or mild for a more kid-friendly option.

  • Add roasted red peppers or olives for a Mediterranean twist.

  • Pairs perfectly with a side salad or garlic knots.
