Description

Fluffy, golden-fried donuts coated in a sweet strawberry glaze, topped with whipped cream and fresh strawberries for a decadent, bakery-style treat.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup mashed fresh strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon milk or cream
  • 1/2 cup whipped cream or stabilized frosting
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, halved
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine yeast, warm milk, and sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, butter, egg, salt, and the yeast mixture. Knead until a soft dough forms, about 6–8 minutes.
  3. Cover the dough and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  4. Roll out the dough to ½-inch thickness and cut into rounds. Let rest for 20 minutes.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry donuts for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  7. Mix powdered sugar, mashed strawberries, and milk or cream to make a smooth glaze.
  8. Dip warm donuts into the glaze and let them set for a few minutes.
  9. Top each donut with a swirl of whipped cream and halved fresh strawberries.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar just before serving.

Notes

  • For best results, use stabilized whipped cream if preparing in advance.
  • Glaze can be made thicker or thinner by adjusting the amount of milk or cream.
  • Donuts are best enjoyed the same day they are made.
