Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- Salt, pepper, garlic powder (to season)
- 4 large flour tortillas
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or American cheese
Optional Toppings
- Pickles, diced onions
- Burger sauce for serving
Instructions
- Heat the skillet: Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat to prepare for cooking the beef and quesadillas.
- Season and press beef: Take a small handful of ground beef and press it directly onto one half of each flour tortilla. Season the beef generously with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to enhance the flavor.
- Cook the beef: Place the tortilla beef-side down onto the hot skillet. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until the beef is well browned and starting to crisp around the edges.
- Flip and add cheese: Flip the tortilla, then sprinkle shredded cheddar or American cheese over the cooked beef side. Fold the tortilla in half to cover the filling and continue grilling, pressing slightly, until both sides are crispy and the cheese has melted thoroughly.
- Serve: Remove the quesadilla from the skillet and slice it into wedges. Serve immediately with optional burger toppings like pickles, diced onions, and burger sauce for dipping or spreading.
Notes
- Use ground beef with a bit of fat content (around 80/20) for juicier quesadillas.
- If you prefer, you can substitute flour tortillas with whole wheat or gluten-free versions to fit dietary needs.
- Adjust seasoning to taste; consider adding smoked paprika or onion powder for extra flavor.
- For a crispier quesadilla, press down gently with a spatula while grilling.
- These can also be cooked on a griddle or outdoor grill for a smoky twist.
