- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1 cup water
- 2 sticks margarine
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
Frosting
- 1 stick margarine
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 6 Tbs buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 4 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Mix dry ingredients: In bowl, mix together flour, sugar, salt and soda.
- Cook peanut butter mixture: In saucepan, mix together peanut butter, water and margarine.
- Boil mixture: Bring to a rapid boil and pour over the flour mixture.
- Add eggs and buttermilk: Mix together and add the eggs and buttermilk.
- Bake cake: Pour into greased sheet cake pan. (or 2 – 9×13 pans) Bake at 350° for 20-25 min.
- Prepare frosting: Bring margarine, peanut butter and buttermilk to a rapid boil.
- Finish frosting: Remove from heat and add vanilla and powdered sugar.
- Frost cake: Frost cake while the frosting is still hot.
- Cool and serve: Let cool completely and cut into bars.
