Description

This Neiman Marcus Chicken Casserole is a rich and comforting baked dish inspired by the famous department store’s cafe recipe. It combines shredded chicken, creamy soup, sour cream, Cheddar cheese, bacon, and almonds for a flavorful filling topped with a buttery, crunchy cracker crust. Perfect for an easy family dinner with a deliciously cheesy and slightly spicy twist.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Mixture

  • 4 cups shredded cooked chicken
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onions
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 ½ teaspoons hot sauce, such as Tabasco® or to taste

Topping

  • 1 sleeve buttery crackers, such as Ritz® crackers, crushed
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix the Filling. In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded cooked chicken, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, shredded Cheddar cheese, sliced green onions, slivered almonds, cooked and crumbled bacon, and hot sauce. Stir everything well until evenly mixed.
  3. Assemble the Casserole. Pour the chicken mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out smoothly.
  4. Prepare the Cracker Topping. In a separate bowl, stir together the crushed buttery crackers and melted butter until the crumbs are fully coated.
  5. Top the Casserole. Evenly spread the buttery cracker mixture over the top of the chicken mixture in the baking dish.
  6. Bake. Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the casserole is bubbly around the edges.

Notes

  • Bacon can be cooked in the microwave to save time and reduce mess.
  • For a spicier casserole, add more hot sauce to taste.
  • Use day-old or rotisserie chicken for convenience and flavor.
  • The cracker topping adds a buttery crunch that contrasts nicely with the creamy casserole.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat thoroughly before serving.
