Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 4 brioche burger buns, toasted
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 1 cup cremini or button mushrooms, sliced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme or parsley
- 4 leaves green leaf lettuce
- Optional: tomato slices, mayonnaise
Instructions
- Season ground beef with salt and pepper, then form into 4 equal patties.
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook patties 3–4 minutes per side or until desired doneness. Add Swiss cheese slices during the last minute of cooking to melt. Set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté mushrooms until golden (about 4–5 minutes).
- Stir in cream, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and herbs. Simmer for 2 minutes until slightly thickened.
- To assemble: layer lettuce (and tomato if using) on bottom buns, add the burger patty, spoon the creamy mushrooms over the top, and cover with toasted bun top.
- Serve hot with your favorite sides.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure burger patties reach 160°F for food safety.
- For a richer sauce, add a splash of white wine before cream.
- Swap Swiss with Gruyère or provolone for variation.
- Buns can be lightly buttered before toasting for extra flavor.
