Description

Juicy grilled beef patty topped with melty Swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms in a creamy herb sauce, and crisp lettuce on a toasted brioche bun—classic comfort with a gourmet twist.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 4 brioche burger buns, toasted
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup cremini or button mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme or parsley
  • 4 leaves green leaf lettuce
  • Optional: tomato slices, mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Season ground beef with salt and pepper, then form into 4 equal patties.
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook patties 3–4 minutes per side or until desired doneness. Add Swiss cheese slices during the last minute of cooking to melt. Set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté mushrooms until golden (about 4–5 minutes).
  4. Stir in cream, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and herbs. Simmer for 2 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. To assemble: layer lettuce (and tomato if using) on bottom buns, add the burger patty, spoon the creamy mushrooms over the top, and cover with toasted bun top.
  6. Serve hot with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure burger patties reach 160°F for food safety.
  • For a richer sauce, add a splash of white wine before cream.
  • Swap Swiss with Gruyère or provolone for variation.
  • Buns can be lightly buttered before toasting for extra flavor.
