Ingredients
-
10 puff pastry squares (4-inch each)
-
8 oz mushrooms (any kind), sliced
-
1 shallot, finely chopped
-
3 garlic cloves, minced
-
1/3 cup parsley leaves, roughly chopped
-
2 tablespoons olive oil
-
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
-
4 oz goat cheese
-
1/4 teaspoon each: sage, thyme, rosemary, salt, pepper
-
1 egg, whisked (for egg wash)
-
1/4 cup white wine (or chicken broth as substitute)
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line two baking pans with parchment paper.
-
Prepare puff pastry: Arrange squares with spacing; poke lightly with a fork without piercing through.
-
Sauté aromatics: Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in skillet. Add shallot and garlic, cook for 1–2 mins.
-
Cook mushrooms: Add mushrooms, remaining olive oil, and herbs/spices. Cook 2 mins. Add white wine and simmer 4–5 mins.
-
Mix filling: Off heat, add goat cheese, parmesan, parsley. Stir until creamy.
-
Assemble tarts: Spoon filling onto pastry squares. Shape edges as desired (corners pinched for curves or sides for a boat shape).
-
Egg wash: Brush egg on exposed pastry edges only.
-
Bake: 25–30 mins until golden brown. Serve warm.
Notes
-
Use store-bought puff pastry sheets, thawed and cut into 4-inch squares.
-
For a crisper bottom, chill the assembled tarts for 10 minutes before baking.
-
Delicious with a green salad or as a festive party starter.
