- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 cup warm milk (or half milk, half water)
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup canned tuna or cooked shredded chicken (optional)
- 1/4 cup black olives, sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Dried oregano or thyme
- 1 egg yolk, beaten
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds or dried parsley
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- Add warm milk and olive oil. Knead into a soft dough and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Divide dough into 10 balls. Flatten each into a thick disk and place on the tray.
- Press the center of each bun to create a shallow well.
- Fill each well with tomato sauce, a sprinkle of cheese, chopped green bell pepper, red onion, optional tuna or chicken, and a sliced olive.
- Season with oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Brush the edges of the buns with beaten egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds or dried parsley.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden and cooked through.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.

- You can prepare the filling in advance to save time during assembly.
- These buns can be frozen after baking and reheated for quick meals.
