- 1/2 lb ground beef or lamb
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons grated onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
- 1/4 cucumber, grated and squeezed dry
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon chopped fresh dill
- Salt to taste
- 12 mini pita or flatbread rounds
- Fresh cilantro or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, combine all meatball ingredients and mix well.
- Form mixture into 12 small meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes until browned and cooked through.
- While meatballs bake, whisk all tzatziki ingredients in a small bowl and refrigerate until serving.
- Warm mini pita or flatbread rounds in a skillet or oven.
- Top each pita with a meatball, drizzle with tzatziki, and garnish with fresh herbs.
Notes
- Use lamb for a more traditional Greek flavor.
- Make tzatziki ahead to let flavors meld.
- Mini pitas can be replaced with cut pieces of regular pita if needed.
- Great served warm or at room temperature for parties.
