Description

Juicy mini Greek meatballs served on warm pita rounds with creamy homemade tzatziki. Perfect for appetizers or Mediterranean-inspired snacks, each bite combines savory meat, cool yogurt sauce, and fresh herbs.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons grated onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cucumber, grated and squeezed dry
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh dill
  • Salt to taste
  • 12 mini pita or flatbread rounds
  • Fresh cilantro or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine all meatball ingredients and mix well.
  3. Form mixture into 12 small meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 15–18 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  5. While meatballs bake, whisk all tzatziki ingredients in a small bowl and refrigerate until serving.
  6. Warm mini pita or flatbread rounds in a skillet or oven.
  7. Top each pita with a meatball, drizzle with tzatziki, and garnish with fresh herbs.

Notes

  • Use lamb for a more traditional Greek flavor.
  • Make tzatziki ahead to let flavors meld.
  • Mini pitas can be replaced with cut pieces of regular pita if needed.
  • Great served warm or at room temperature for parties.
