Description
This Indian-style savory French toast is made with a spiced egg mixture, fresh herbs, and golden-toasted bread. Crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, it’s perfect with chutney, ketchup, or chai for breakfast or a snack.

- 4 slices sandwich bread
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
- 2 tablespoons fresh coriander, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/4 teaspoon red chili flakes
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon oil or butter for toasting
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, onion, green chili, coriander, turmeric, chili flakes, salt, and pepper.
- Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add a little oil or butter.
- Dip each bread slice into the egg mixture, coating both sides well.
- Place on the hot pan and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Repeat with remaining slices, adding oil as needed.
- Serve hot with green chutney, tomato ketchup, and a steaming cup of chai.

- Adjust spice level by varying chili amount.
- Use whole grain bread for a healthier version.
