Description

Crispy and flavorful Jalapeno Popper Egg Rolls stuffed with a creamy mixture of cream cheese, cheddar, jalapenos, and bacon. These bite-sized appetizers are perfect for parties or snacks, fried to golden perfection and served with your favorite dipping sauces.

Ingredients

Scale

Egg Roll Filling

  • 1 block (250g) softened cream cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 minced jalapenos
  • 1 cup minced fried bacon
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Other Ingredients

  • 15 egg roll wrappers
  • Neutral oil for frying (enough to cover egg rolls)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Soften the cream cheese, shred the cheddar cheese, mince the jalapenos, and fry the bacon until crispy, then mince it.
  2. Make Filling: In a bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, minced jalapenos, minced bacon, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt & pepper. Mix well until fully incorporated.
  3. Assemble Egg Rolls: Lay out an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface in a diamond shape with the bottom point facing you. Place a spoonful of filling in the center and spread it into a log shape. Fold the bottom corner up over the filling, fold the sides in, then roll tightly like wrapping a burrito. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  4. Preheat Oil: Heat neutral oil in a deep pan or fryer until it bubbles when tested with a wooden chopstick or spoon, indicating it’s ready for frying.
  5. Fry Egg Rolls: Fry the egg rolls in batches, careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Drain and Season: Remove fried egg rolls with a slotted spoon and place on a rack to drain excess oil. Immediately sprinkle with salt to taste.
  7. Serve: Serve hot with drizzles of blue cheese dressing, extra jalapenos, and bacon bits. Pair with ranch, blue cheese, or sweet chili sauce for dipping and enjoy!

Notes

  • Ensure the cream cheese is softened for easy mixing and spreading.
  • Adjust the amount of jalapenos according to your heat preference.
  • Do not overcrowd the frying pan to maintain oil temperature and even crisping.
  • Use neutral oil with a high smoke point, such as vegetable or canola oil, for frying.
  • Egg rolls are best served immediately for optimal crispiness.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the oven or air fryer to retain crispness.
