Description

This Honey Butter Chicken recipe is a quick and delicious meal that comes together in just 30 minutes. Featuring crispy pan-fried chicken thighs coated in a flavorful, sweet, and savory honey butter garlic sauce, this dish is perfect for busy weeknights or a comforting dinner. The combination of honey, butter, soy sauce, and garlic creates a rich glaze that perfectly complements the tender chicken.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Coating

  • 800 g Boneless chicken thighs (or chicken tenders)
  • 2/3 cup Flour
  • 1 tsp Kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder

Sauce

  • 3 tbsp Olive oil (or canola oil or vegetable oil)
  • 1/3 cup Honey
  • 100 g Unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp Light soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Coating: In a large bowl or a large flat plate, combine the flour, kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder thoroughly to create the coating mixture.
  2. Coat the Chicken: Add the chicken thighs or tenders to the flour mixture and toss or press them so each piece is evenly coated with the seasoned flour blend.
  3. Fry the Chicken: Heat a large pan over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Place the coated chicken pieces in the pan and cook for several minutes on each side until the chicken is crispy and golden brown on the outside and fully cooked through.
  4. Remove Chicken: Once cooked, transfer the chicken to a plate and set aside while you prepare the sauce in the same pan.
  5. Make the Honey Butter Sauce: In the same pan, reduce heat to medium and add the unsalted butter. Allow it to melt, then add the honey, minced garlic, and light soy sauce. Stir the sauce mixture constantly and cook for about 2 minutes until it becomes bubbly and aromatic.
  6. Combine Chicken and Sauce: Return the cooked chicken pieces to the pan with the honey butter sauce. Toss or stir gently to coat each piece well, allowing the sauce to cling to the crispy coating. Cook for an additional minute to heat through and blend flavors.
  7. Serve: Remove from heat and serve the honey butter chicken hot for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Use boneless chicken thighs for juicier, more flavorful results; chicken tenders can be used for convenience.
  • Adjust the amount of honey in the sauce to your preferred level of sweetness.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute the flour with cornstarch or a gluten-free flour blend.
  • Ensure the pan is hot enough before frying the chicken to achieve a crispy crust.
  • Serve with steamed rice or vegetables to complete the meal.
