Description

Crispy, golden puff pastry wrapped around a savory sausage filling—these classic sausage rolls are perfect for parties, snacks, or a comforting bite any time of day.


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 lb ground sausage (pork or your choice)
  • 1/4 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tablespoon breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine sausage, chopped onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, mustard, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Unroll the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut it in half lengthwise to make two long strips.
  4. Divide the sausage mixture in half and form long logs down the center of each pastry strip.
  5. Fold the pastry over the filling and press the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the seam.
  6. Cut each log into 4–5 equal pieces and place on the prepared tray seam-side down.
  7. Brush tops with egg wash.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and puffed and the sausage is cooked through.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving. Best enjoyed warm!
