Description

Delicious and easy-to-make French Dip Tortilla Roll Ups combine thinly sliced roast beef, melted cheese, and flavorful spices wrapped in warm flour tortillas. Baked to golden perfection and served with a savory au jus dipping sauce, this recipe is perfect for a satisfying appetizer or a comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Roll Ups

  • 1 lb thinly sliced roast beef (deli style or leftover)
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Au Jus

  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  2. Assemble Roll Ups: Lay the flour tortillas flat on your work surface, then neatly layer the thinly sliced roast beef and shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese down the center of each tortilla.
  3. Roll Tortillas: Carefully roll each tortilla tightly around the filling, making sure to tuck in the ends, and place them seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet to keep them sealed.
  4. Season and Butter: Brush the tops of the rolled tortillas with melted butter. Sprinkle evenly with garlic powder, onion powder, and dried parsley to add flavor and aroma.
  5. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the tortillas turn golden brown and the cheese has melted beautifully inside.
  6. Prepare Au Jus: While the roll ups bake, make the au jus dipping sauce by combining beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt and pepper in a saucepan. Simmer gently for 5 to 7 minutes to meld the flavors.
  7. Serve: Remove the roll ups from the oven, slice them into bite-sized pieces if desired, and serve warm alongside the hot au jus sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Use thinly sliced roast beef for easy rolling and a tender bite.
  • You can substitute mozzarella with provolone or any mild melting cheese.
  • Adjust seasoning on the au jus to taste, adding more soy or Worcestershire sauce if preferred.
  • For a crispier exterior, brush a little extra butter halfway through the bake time.
  • Leftover roll ups can be reheated in the oven wrapped in foil to maintain softness.
