Description

Golden, crispy fried shrimp bites with a flavorful seasoned coating—perfect for appetizers, tacos, or dipping sauces.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Place shrimp in a bowl with buttermilk. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Remove shrimp from buttermilk and dredge in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to coat well.
  5. Fry shrimp in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Do not overcrowd the pan.
  6. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  7. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce or lemon wedges.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, double-dip the shrimp in buttermilk and flour mixture.
  • Serve with spicy mayo, tartar sauce, or garlic aioli.
  • Best served immediately after frying.
