- 1 lb whole cremini or button mushrooms, cleaned
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the whole mushrooms and sauté for 5–7 minutes until browned and tender.
- Stir in minced garlic and chili flakes (if using), cooking for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
- Reduce heat to medium-low, then add heavy cream and cream cheese.
- Stir until cream cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Add Parmesan cheese and stir until melted and the sauce becomes thick and creamy.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- Use full-fat cream and cheeses for the creamiest texture.
- For a deeper flavor, sauté mushrooms without stirring too often to let them caramelize.
- Goes great with grilled steak, chicken, or toasted baguette slices.
