Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika (optional, for color)
Sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup chicken broth
- 1 (5.2 oz) package Boursin cheese (Garlic & Fine Herbs flavor)
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
Garnish & Serving
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
- Steamed vegetables, pasta, or mashed potatoes (for serving)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika for color.
- Sear the Chicken: In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium-high heat. Add chicken breasts and sear for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and almost cooked through. Remove the chicken and set aside.
- Make the Boursin Cream Sauce: Reduce heat to medium in the same skillet and add minced garlic. Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant. Deglaze by pouring in chicken broth and scraping up browned bits from the pan bottom.
- Add Cream and Cheese: Stir in heavy cream and crumble the Boursin cheese into the pan. Stir continuously until the cheese melts and the sauce is creamy and smooth.
- Season the Sauce: Add Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, Dijon mustard, and grated Parmesan cheese. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to thicken slightly.
- Finish Cooking the Chicken: Return the seared chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning the sauce over each piece. Simmer for 5-7 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Adjust Seasoning: Taste the sauce and add more salt or pepper if needed.
- Serve and Garnish: Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley and extra Parmesan cheese. Serve hot over pasta, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
- Enjoy: Dive into the rich, creamy flavor of your homemade Boursin Chicken!
Notes
- Be sure not to overcook the chicken during the searing step to keep it juicy.
- Use fresh parsley for the best flavor and garnish appearance.
- The optional paprika adds appealing color but can be omitted if desired.
- Adjust red pepper flakes based on your spice preference.
- Serve immediately to enjoy the creamy sauce at its best consistency.
