Scale
- 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (8-count)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice until smooth. Set aside.
- Flatten each biscuit slightly. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the cream cheese filling into the center of half the biscuits.
- Top with another biscuit and pinch the edges firmly to seal. Use your fingers or a fork to crimp edges if needed.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully fry each donut for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a shallow bowl, mix cinnamon and granulated sugar.
- While donuts are still warm, roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
- Serve warm for maximum gooeyness.
Notes
- Ensure edges are sealed tightly to prevent filling leakage during frying.
- Use a candy thermometer to maintain oil temperature at 350°F for best results.
- These are best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated briefly in the microwave.
