For the Dough and Filling
- 1 can refrigerated pizza dough
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
For Topping
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
For Serving
- Salsa for dipping
- Sour cream for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) so it’s ready for baking the taco sticks to a crispy golden brown.
- Cook Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it is browned thoroughly. Drain any excess fat, then stir in the taco seasoning according to the packet instructions. Set the seasoned meat aside.
- Roll Out Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the refrigerated pizza dough into a large rectangle, preparing it for layering.
- Assemble Filling: Spread the cooked taco meat evenly over one half of the rolled-out dough. Then sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese evenly on top of the meat layer.
- Seal Dough: Fold the other half of the dough over the filling. Press the edges firmly to seal the filling inside.
- Cut and Twist: Cut the filled dough into strips approximately 1 inch wide. Twist each strip gently to create a spiral shape and place the twists on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Apply Topping: Brush the tops of each twisted strip with the melted butter, then sprinkle with garlic powder for added flavor.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until the sticks turn golden brown and crispy.
- Serve: Allow the cheesy taco sticks to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them with salsa and sour cream as dips.
Notes
- Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to make clean strips in the dough.
- Keep an eye on the baking time as ovens vary; remove when golden and no longer doughy.
- For an extra kick, add jalapeños to the meat mixture or sprinkle some chili flakes on top before baking.
- These taco sticks can be prepared ahead and refrigerated before baking.
- Reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness instead of using a microwave.
