Description

A delicious mash-up of two comfort food favorites—savory, saucy ground beef loaded onto crispy garlic bread and topped with bubbling layers of melted cheese. Perfect for family dinners, parties, or anytime you want something messy, cheesy, and satisfying.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce or sloppy joe sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 loaf French bread, halved lengthwise
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with onion until browned. Drain excess grease.
  3. Stir in garlic, tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.
  4. Place bread halves on a baking sheet. Mix butter with garlic powder and brush over the cut sides.
  5. Bake bread for 5 minutes until lightly toasted.
  6. Spoon sloppy joe mixture evenly over bread. Top with mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
  7. Return to oven and bake for 8–10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use French bread or any crusty bread for best results.
  • Adjust seasoning of sloppy joe mixture to taste.
  • For extra flavor, add sliced jalapeños or green onions as toppings.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy crispy bread and gooey cheese.
