Description

Crispy on the outside, melty on the inside—these golden taquito-style rolls are packed with seasoned ground beef and gooey cheese, making them a perfect handheld comfort food for appetizers, parties, or a fun dinner.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese
  • 8 flour tortillas or egg roll wrappers
  • 1 egg (for sealing edges)
  • Fresh parsley or cilantro for garnish
  • Oil for frying or brushing if baking

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; sauté until soft.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook until well seasoned and no liquid remains. Let cool slightly.
  3. Lay out tortillas or wrappers. Place a spoonful of beef and a sprinkle of cheese on one end. Roll tightly, sealing the edge with beaten egg.
  4. For frying: Heat oil in a deep pan and fry rolls until golden and crisp.
  5. For baking: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place rolls on a baking sheet, brush with oil, and bake for 15–20 minutes until crispy.
  6. Serve warm, garnished with chopped parsley or cilantro.

Notes

  • Use pre-cooked shredded chicken or beans as a variation.
  • Serve with salsa, sour cream, or guacamole for dipping.
  • Freeze assembled taquitos before cooking for an easy make-ahead snack.
