Description

Champagne Grapes are a delightful and elegant treat featuring fresh grapes soaked in champagne and lightly coated in sugar. This recipe is perfect as a refreshing snack or a sophisticated appetizer for parties. The grapes soak overnight in champagne, absorbing subtle fruity and bubbly notes, then are chilled or frozen for a unique texture and flavor experience.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 3 cups grapes, rinsed with stems removed
  • 1 cup champagne
  • 3 tablespoons white granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Soak Grapes: Place the rinsed grapes in a medium-sized bowl and pour the champagne over them. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 12 hours or overnight to allow the grapes to absorb the champagne flavor.
  2. Drain Grapes: Remove the bowl from the refrigerator and pour the grapes into a strainer to drain off the champagne completely.
  3. Sugar Coat: Place the sugar in a small bowl. Take a handful of grapes at a time and toss them in the sugar to coat evenly. Shake off any excess sugar and transfer the grapes to a serving bowl, platter, or baking sheet. Repeat this process until all grapes are coated.
  4. Chill or Serve: For a firmer, colder treat, freeze the coated grapes for 2 hours. Alternatively, serve them refrigerated or at room temperature depending on your preference.

Notes

  • Use seedless grapes for easier snacking.
  • Champagne may be substituted with sparkling wine or prosecco if preferred.
  • For a less sweet version, reduce the amount of sugar or omit it entirely.
  • Serve immediately after freezing for best texture; refreezing is not recommended.
  • These grapes make an elegant garnish for cocktails or desserts.
