- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8×8 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- Make brownie layer: In a bowl, whisk melted butter and sugar until combined. Add eggs and vanilla. Stir in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Spread evenly in the baking pan.
- Make cookie layer: In a separate bowl, cream butter with sugars. Beat in egg and vanilla. Mix in flour, baking soda, salt, and chocolate chips.
- Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over the brownie layer and gently spread or press it down.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes or until the top is golden and set. The center may still be gooey—perfectly rich and chewy.
- Cool before slicing. Best served slightly warm.
Notes
- Do not overbake to maintain a gooey center.
- Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
