Description

Flaky, tender cod fillets baked in a zesty lemon garlic butter sauce, sprinkled with herbs and a touch of chili for a perfect balance of freshness and warmth—this elegant yet easy dish is ideal for a light dinner or special occasion.


Ingredients

  • 4 cod fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • Lemon slices and fresh thyme (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Pat cod fillets dry and place them in a lightly greased baking dish.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, lemon zest, crushed red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Pour the sauce evenly over the cod fillets.
  5. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  6. Remove from oven and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Garnish with lemon slices and thyme sprigs before serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh cod for best flavor, but frozen (thawed) fillets also work well.
  • Adjust chili flakes to your preferred spice level.
  • Serve with steamed vegetables, rice, or roasted potatoes.
  • This recipe works well with other white fish like haddock or halibut.
