1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
-
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
-
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
-
1/4 teaspoon salt
-
2/3 cup brown sugar
-
1/2 cup buttermilk
-
2 large eggs
-
1/4 cup vegetable oil
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the glaze:
-
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
-
2 tablespoons butter
-
2 tablespoons milk
-
Chocolate sprinkles for topping
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan.
-
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and brown sugar.
-
In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, oil, and vanilla extract.
-
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
-
Spoon the batter into a piping bag and pipe it evenly into the donut pan cavities.
-
Bake for 8-10 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into a donut comes out clean.
-
Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
For the glaze, melt the chocolate chips, butter, and milk together until smooth.
-
Dip each donut into the glaze, allowing the excess to drip off, and sprinkle immediately with chocolate sprinkles.
-
Let the glaze set before serving.
Notes
-
Add a pinch of espresso powder to the batter for enhanced chocolate flavor.
-
Don’t overmix the batter to keep the donuts tender and soft.
-
Store leftover donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
