Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 2/3 cup brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the glaze:

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 2 tablespoons milk

  • Chocolate sprinkles for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan.

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and brown sugar.

  • In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, oil, and vanilla extract.

  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

  • Spoon the batter into a piping bag and pipe it evenly into the donut pan cavities.

  • Bake for 8-10 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into a donut comes out clean.

  • Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

  • For the glaze, melt the chocolate chips, butter, and milk together until smooth.

  • Dip each donut into the glaze, allowing the excess to drip off, and sprinkle immediately with chocolate sprinkles.

  • Let the glaze set before serving.

Notes

  • Add a pinch of espresso powder to the batter for enhanced chocolate flavor.

  • Don’t overmix the batter to keep the donuts tender and soft.

  • Store leftover donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
