Ingredients

Units Scale

Ingredients

  • 11/2 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Warm milk
  • Fresh fruit and/or brown sugar, optional

Instructions

  1. Mix the ingredients
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a 13×9-inch baking pan to ensure easy removal of the baked oatmeal. Combine the oats, sugar, milk, melted butter, egg, baking powder, salt and vanilla extract in a large bowl. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Spread and bake
Spread the oatmeal mixture evenly in the prepared baking pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
  3. Serve warm
Immediately spoon the baked oatmeal into bowls. To serve, pour warm milk over the top and if desired top with fresh fruit or a sprinkle of brown sugar for added sweetness and texture.
