- 1/4 tsp black pepper

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked bacon, chopped
- 1/4 cup caramelized onions or crispy fried onions
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, pepper, and paprika.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter with brown and white sugar until fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla until well incorporated.
- Slowly mix in dry ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in cheddar cheese, bacon bits, and onion.
- Scoop dough onto prepared sheet, spacing 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until golden around edges and just set in center.
- Cool on sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a rack.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Smoked paprika adds depth but can be omitted.
- Use crispy fried onions for a more textured bite.
